A judge sentenced Lacey Spears, convicted of poisoning her young son to death with salt to 20 years of life in prison. She was found guilty of second-degree murder after a 14 day trial. Lacey Spears, who wrote about her son's failing health online, was sentenced for poisoning her 5 year-old son to death with salt. Doctors testified during the trial that there was no medical explanation for his sudden risein sodium levels, cosmopolitan reported. Spears told investigators that her son, whose father was killed in a car accident, suffered from a slew of medical problem from crohn's disease and celiae diseases to abnormalties, according to court papers.
